Club Organisation
Chorley Kingfishers is affiliated to Wigan & District Angling Association. This means that all our members must also be members of Wigan and District AA. Our yearly membership fee includes this cost but unfortunately if you already hold a Wigan permit and wish to join our club you will need another one issued by the Kingfishers. This is a Wigan rule not ours.
Our club is well organised and run by the members for the members. We have a club meeting each month where we discuss and vote on future events. Each member has equal voting rights and decisions are made by majority vote. All meetings are minuted by the club secretary.
Our matches last for 5 hours and are held on Sundays throughout the season with the draw taking place on the bank at 08.00am and fishing 09.00 - 14.00. We fish according to the rules of the local venue and prize money is paid from the pool for the top 3 finishers. The payout depends on the number of people fishing.
We also operate a bonus peg system where at the start of each match a bonus peg is drawn, if the match is then won from the bonus peg, that angler wins not only the match payout but also the bonus kitty. This accumulates at a rate of 50 pence per peg, per match.
We run a league championship each season for both individual and pairs, the pairs are drawn at the start of the season. Points are awarded at each match with the number of points for a win being the same as the number of members in the club at the start of the season. First place scores maximum points with one less point for each place thereafter. This way everyone who catches scores at least a point in every match.
We do have some other rules but they are mostly common sense, the main purpose is to enjoy the fishing and have some fun and friendly banter along the way.
